Family Reunification is the process of reunifying children with their parent(s) or legal guardian after they have been removed and placed in out-of-home care to ensure their safety. While the child(ren) are placed in out-of-home care the parents will be provided supportive services to ensure the basic needs of their children can be met. Some supportive services to promote family reunification could be, parenting education, substance abuse or mental health services, and or housing assistance.

Family Maintenance is the process of providing families with supportive services while the children remain in the home of their parent(s) or legal guardian.
