Before You Prescribe

When a patients gets diagnosed with COVID-19, the first step is to evaluate the patient on their needs, current symptoms, risk, and pre-existing conditions. To help you decide whether a patient should get therapeutics or not, follow the COVID Therapeutics Algorithm for COVID-19 Patient with Mild-Moderate Symptoms.

After reviewing the COVID Therapeutics Algorithm and identifying that your patient qualifies to receive any of the two anti-viral medications, review the list of local pharmacies below that are currently dispensing Paxlovid and Molnupiravir.

For additional assistance, health providers can now call the COVID-19 Therapeutics Provider Warmline to receive free and confidential consultation on COVID-19 testing and treatment. 

  • The Therapeutics Warmline is a real-time resources available to all California health care providers and is managed by UCSF National Clinician Consultation Center.
  • Available Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. - 5 p.m. Voicemail messages left after hours will be returned on the next business day.

The supply of Paxlovid & Molnupiravir has been distributed to various local pharmacies (10 total pharmacies). Below are the updated list of pharmacies offering these treatments: 

Both medications can only be dispensed with a medical provider's prescription. Due to the limited medications supply, your doctor's office should also contact the pharmacies directly to confirm availability prior to sending the prescription.

Resources for Under-insured or Uninsured Patients

Get Tested Sesame COVID-19 TreatmentFor patients who cannot get a prescription through a PCP, do not have insurance, or are under-insured, please refer them to schedule an online appointment through Sesame Care.

How it works:

  1. Patient gets tested for COVID-19
  2. Those who have tested positive for COVID, can get treated for FREE through sesame care. 
  3. Patients can schedule a FREE appointment by visiting sesamecare.com/covid or by calling 833-686-5051.
