Who is eligible for booster vaccinations?

NEW! As of April 27, 2023, CDPH aligned their vaccine guidance to match the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) emergency use authorization of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna bivalent vaccines to be used for all doses for everyone 6 months and older and the option of a second dose for certain high-risk groups.

Bivalent Recommendations

• The PFIZER-BioNTech vaccine has EUA for use in people 6 months and older
  • 1 bivalent dose for everyone 5 years and older
  • 3-dose series of bivalent vaccine for everyone 6 months through 4 years
    People with compromised immunity and adults 65 years and older may be eligible for additional bivalent doses. See Related Materials on Booster and Additional Doses.
• The Moderna has EUA for use in people 6 months and older.
  • 1 bivalent dose for everyone 6 years and older

What is an additional dose?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has authorized additional doses for those 6 months and older who are immunocompromised. More information on additional doses can be here. 

Important! Patients are HIGHLY encouraged to discuss getting an additional dose with their Primary Care Provider.
