Transitional Housing Program-Plus-Foster Care (THP+FC)

The THP+FC is a program offered by a licensed transitional housing placement provider to provide safe housing for Non-Minor Dependents (NMD). The non-minor dependent can receive extended foster care benefits until the age 21. The benefits of extended foster care include, but not limited to, stable housing, ongoing support by the social worker, assistance with education, budgeting, employment and other supportive services. Eligibility requirements for extended foster care include:

  • Completing high school or equivalent program; or
  • Enrolling in college, community college or a vocational education program; or
  • Employed at least 80 hours a month; or
  • Participating in a program designed to promote or remove barriers to employment; or
  • Unable to do one of the above requirements because of a medical condition.

Transitional Housing Program-Plus (THP Plus)

The THP Plus program is provided through a contracted foster family agency provider.  This program provides supportive housing to former foster youth, including those formerly supervised by probation, ages 18 through 25 who exited foster care at or after age 18. The program’s goal is to provide a safe living environment, for up to 36 months, while assisting the young adult in developing the life skills necessary to be successful living independently. The program provides supervised transitional living housing in a variety of settings and supportive services.
